When groundwater was encountered above that which had been anticipated, Oasis worked with the design team to establish a system for permanent groundwater control, which was provided during the excavation and construction of the mat foundation.
Also, as part of the groundwater control during construction activities, it was deemed necessary to run continuous water discharge from the site. Oasis provided monthly sampling in order to maintain the water discharge permit with the City of Atlanta for the duration of the project. The client benefitted by avoiding delays in construction, and the project was completed in time for the 2019 school year.
Oasis provided special inspections and materials testing services for the New Hyland Center at Christ the King School in Atlanta, Georgia.
The New Hyland Center is a multi-purpose five-story building including a below grade gymnasium, three levels for classrooms, and a mechanical platform. The building slab-on-grade consists of a mat foundation. The remaining floors consist of elevated concrete slabs on a metal deck. The building is clad primarily with stone veneer. In addition, underground utilities and a below grade stormwater detention vault were installed. Construction included placement of a mud mat, waterproofing on the basement pad, and rebar placement where waterproofing was completed.
Oasis served as Quality Assurance Representative for materials testing and Special Inspection services for this project which was completed in time for the 2019 school year. Oasis performed monitoring and sampling in general accordance with NPDES General Permit regulations, as well as weekly BMP Inspections, which were performed throughout the project.
