Oasis Consulting Services Vice President Sarah Beeson was recently a featured speaker at SWANA Georgia’s Spring Conference & Business Meeting.

Ms. Beeson presented on how closed municipal solid waste landfills can be repurposed to address historic siting issues once the landfill has reached the end of its intended life cycle. Her presentation explored the inequitable past behind the waste disposal site selection process to establish how some communities have been negatively impacted by the presence of a landfill. She then presented a framework and potential methods to rectify the siting, which focused on public health, home values, and community morale.
